Norka Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy is an insurance policy, launched by Norka Roots, for providing Critical illness care to NRKs.

Details of Coverage

A sum of Rs. 1 lakh is provided for critical illness (as per schedule) on the submission of a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner. In addition to critical illness care, there is an add-on benefit of Accident Insurance coverage of Rs. 2 lakhs for life and up to Rs. 1 lakh for permanent/ partial disability.

Eligibility

Should be a Pravasi residing or working abroad with a valid passport and visa for at least 6 months. Age: 18-60 years

Validity

One year and can be renewed.

Documents needed for application

Before applying make sure that all the required documents are scanned and prepared in JPEG formats.

•    Copies of front and address page of the passport
•    Copy of Visa Page/ Iqama/ Work Permit/ Residence Permit
•    College/ University details for Pravasi Student ID Card
•    Photo and Signature of the applicant
 

Application fee

Application can be submitted online with a registration fee of Rs.550/- (including premium) (for one year)

Renewal

•    You can apply for renewal within 30 days of the date of expiry.
•    Copies of prescribed documents and renewal fee should be submitted.

All NRKs can be a member of the Pravasi Raksha Insurance Scheme.
* How to pay the premium amount of Expatriate Insurance Policy?
Only through the Norka Roots website (https://norkaroots.org/).
* What is the difference between Pravasi Identity Card and Pravasi Reksha Insurance Policy?
The Pravasi Identity Card is issued by Norka Roots to Keralites working or living abroad. Cardholders will receive an insurance cover of Rs. 4 lakh in case of accidental death and a maximum of Rs. 2 lakh in case of partial or permanent disability due to an accident. The Pravasi Raksha Insurance policy covers 13 critical illnesses and provides personal accident insurance coverage of Rs. 2 lakh.
* Can Pravasi Identity Cardholders be members of Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy?
Yes, they can.
* When will I receive the policy certificate after paying the premium amount for the Expatriate Insurance Policy?
You will receive it, immediately on the New India Insurance Company's receipt of the premium amount.
* From when can the insurance claim be received after taking the policy?
There is a waiting period of 30 days from the inception of the policy.
* When to renew Expatriate Insurance Policy?
It is an annual policy and needs to be renewed on a yearly basis.
* What is a pre-existing illness?
It refers to any condition, ailment, injury, or related condition(s) for which there were signs or symptoms, and/or were diagnosed, and/or for which medical advice/treatment was received within forty-eight months prior to the first policy issued by us and renewed continuously thereafter. Such a condition or disease shall be considered as pre-existing. Any claims arising out of such a pre-existing disease or condition are not covered under the policy until forty-eight months of continuous coverage have elapsed for the insured person.
* Can people with pre-existing illness join?
If the pre-existing illness or medical condition leads to any of the critical illness specified, the insured will not get the benefit for that particular disease. But if he/she contracts any other critical illness, not linked to his existing illness, he/she may be eligible for the claim, subject to terms and conditions of the policy. If the pre-existing illness or medical condition leads to any of the specified critical illnesses, the insured will not receive benefits for that particular disease. However, if he/she contracts any other critical illness not linked to his/her existing condition, he/she may be eligible for a claim, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
* To whom and how should one apply for insurance claim?
All claims under this policy should be submitted to Norka – Roots.
* How to get insurance claim approved?
The insurance company will forward the claim to Norka Roots, which, in turn, will disburse it to the individual claimants.
